It is not at all the type of books i would normally have downloaded / read - - BUT this was a wonderful choice for a book !! Terri has the best way of pulling you into her books and you feel like you are moving along with the story line with total visualization of the places and people. Yes the story starts slowly, but it's done to build backstory and to connect you to the character Meaghan. I appreciate that Terri Reid takes the time to make you become emotionally invested in her characters, then what happens to them actually matters! A measure of a good book and a good author to me, is a story that has characters that you actually empathize with, not a story you just rush through to get to the end.Now on to the review of the storyline itself! I am not a huge fantasy reader, but I have eclectic taste and really enjoy Terri Reid, so I was happy to try a King Arthur tale written by her. We start the story by getting to know Meaghan and her parents, and they present as a happy loving family, who also happen to be rather forward thinking by allowing their only daughter to learn things like sword play. In this story there happens to be a magical forest adjacent to their home, and it's filled by magical creatures like fairies, and of course, the Eochaidh. The Eochaidh are men who were transformed into horses by Merlin in an attempt to save them from a curse cast on them by Morganna, whom they were attempting to stop from traveling throughout time causing misery and spreading evil. This book focuses on the beginning of the last attempt to save the Eochaidh from Morganna's little cult who will stop at nothing to prevent the Eochaidh from being returned to men and ultimately stopping Morganna for good.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.EnchantingBy HauckstonFables, heroes, heroines, mystics et al. She keeps the reader on the edge of their seat while the heroine is pursued into an old mystical forest... where she finds enchantment awaiting her. It was a fantastical ride, but the ending of Eochaidh - Legend of the Horsemen (Book One) was surprisingly a bit weak for Terri Reid. Although the plot more than makes up for it. I would purchase her next book to see where she takes me. I'm hoping she can strengthen this series because I loved her Mary O'Reilly series... and I've read everything she's published, enjoying it all. If you can forgive her weakness at the end of the story enough to begin this series, it is well worth it.See all 129 customer reviews...
